Metropolis (1927) w/ live original score by Brett Miller | Garden Goes Global

The Garden is going global! Join us for an incredible weekend featuring some of the best classic films from around the world. Running Friday, Oct. 10th - Sunday, Oct. 12th, we will be featuring films from 9 different countries. This inaugural weekend of international films includes beloved foreign classics like PLAYTIME, BICYCLE THIEVES, and METROPOLIS to rarely screened gems like Argentinian noir, NEVER OPEN THAT DOOR, or the West African satire, XALA.

Day three of the festival kicks off with the iconic silent film METROPOLIS featuring a live original score by Brett Miller. 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 at princetongardentheatre.org/global

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: Esteemed live accompanist Brett Miller will join us in theater to provide a live original score to Fritz Lang’s silent classic, METROPOLIS. The version of the film we will be screening is the 2010 full restoration, which adds 25 minutes of unseen footage back to the film.

A hugely influential silent film — and a blueprint for future sci-fi classics like Blade Runner and The Matrix — Fritz Lang’s visionary film is set in a futuristic city sharply divided between the workers and the ruling elite, when the son of the city’s mastermind falls in love with a working-class prophet who foresees a future where both classes are joined together. You owe it to yourself to witness the true cinematic power of METROPOLIS on the big screen! Silent w/ live accompaniment.
